Please respond to the reading due for today, "Aims and Processes of the Research Paper." You can use the study guide for the reading as a way of getting into the blog. I am looking for your responses, questions, reactions.
The article for aims and processes was written mostly for instructors therefore it was hard for me to relate to. However it was helpful because it gave me a whole new persepective about how to write a research paper. At first I thought it was about getting information and literally repeating it in your own words. While in aims and processes it was more about finding a topic and stating a legitimate argument about that topic. They also talked about how it helps both instructors and students to learn more about a topic by writing a research paper about it.
"Aims and Processes of the Research Paper" was helpful because it explains how to properly structure a research paper. It explains how most common composition texts teach a method that is misleading. In other words, it explains that writing a research paper is more than just a process of information-gathering. It sets a plan on how to write a proper research paper through a pattern of steps, eventually made so that you can support your thesis statement. I thought, however, that the article was not an appropriate guide for students, because the directions and processes were too complex. I believe that writing a paper is a simple, yet methodical process, and also believe that it should be taught in simple contexts.
